Peace building and governance
Since its inception, BASE has worked extensively to promote, uphold and respect rule of law, good governance, peace building and dispute resolution. BASE focuses to implement programs that facilitate and promotes integration and builds cooperative relationships between divided communities. To promote peace and social harmony, BASE has been implementing Inclusive Resource Management Initiative (IRMI) and Regional Dialogue Program for conflict mitigation and management. IRMI works with Community Forest User Group (CFUG) and facilitates natural resource-based conflicts which causes due to the exclusionary governance practices, and competition for scarce natural resources. Through this program BASE has trained peace facilitators who are playing vital roles in facilitating natural resource based disputes for resolution in their respective areas. Similarly Regional Dialogue program facilitates dialogue to transfer conflict at local level through Sambad Samuha, Conflict Analysis Group, Youth Group and Women Group Furthermore, based on the situation of disputes, the program emphasizes form minimizing, managing and transforming of disputes.
