Nepal is grappling with the deadly second wave of COVID-19 which has put an enormous strain on the existing medical infrastructure. The country is running out the oxygen supply, minimum PCR tests and shortage of essential medicines has worsened the life of marginalized people living in the villages. Numbers of people in the villages are struggling with the common symptoms of the Covid infection but they lack safety kits, life-saving medicines and medical care access. Children are at a greater risk of getting infected in the anticipated third and fourth wave. Nepal is facing its worst humanitarian crisis.

With your generous support, in the last three weeks, we have:

Reached out to the communities through doctors and medical team. The team has provided basic health services as well as counseling to 2321 (female 1319 and male 1002) people of remote villages. 377 Antigen tests and distributed medicines to 1328 patients having similar symptoms to Covid. 3 severe cases referred and rescued to the hospital.

Distributed 55,450 pieces masks, 1031 bottles (100 ml and 500 ml) sanitizer, 34 sets PPE set to 39 Health Centers and 934 Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHV). Provided door to door counseling to 554 thousand days mothers in Dang district.

We have also been attending help calls to our contact persons and responding them with our immediate support.

Distributed hygiene kits those included soaps, masks and sanitizer to 500 vulnerable families of three municipalities i.e. Barbardiya, Bansgadhi and Gulariya in Bardiya district.

BASE Organization aims to provide assistance to over 5,000 children and families directly affected by Covid-19 pandemic. We wish to support for health, education and livelihood to the most marginalized and most vulnerable children as well as people including former bonded laborers who are still at risk for exploitation.
