Humanitarian support to vulnerable families in Bardiya district
BASE (Backward Society Education) has provided humanitarian support to vulnerable families due to lock down in Bardiya district. The relief support has been distributed to deprived families including ex-kamaiyas, pregnant and lactating mothers as well as health workers of ward no. 1, 2, 4 and 8 of Gulariya municipality. 600 families have received food items. Likewise, nutritious food packets have been provided to 100 pregnant and lactating mothers. Health workers and those staying at quarantine centers have been distributed masks, sanitizers and gloves. The relief packages were made ensuing government’s criteria.
With the facilitation of Dialogue Group and close coordination with local government (Gulariya municipality and ward offices) the relief packages worth NPR 1,959,750.00 are distributed in four wards i.e. 1, 2, 4 and 8. The financial support was sanctioned by Christian Aid Nepal. Applying one door system and all the mandates of Nepal government BASE mobilized its network, members and staffs for this distribution.
All the safety measures were ensured during distribution in all four wards. This relief has reached to unreached and they are pleased to have such good package of relief support for they will not have to suffer hungry. The receiver communities, local government, health workers, quarantined patients as well as district government have thankful to BASE for such a big support to address the crisis caused due to pandemic of Covid-19. It has been the biggest relief support yet in Bardiya to boost up humanity.
